Winner of the 6th Giuseppe Caputo International Classical Guitar Competition

With D’Amico, one immediately notices joy: he makes music because it fills his life. He plays with an enthusiasm and spontaneity that might seem like divine gifts — and they are — yet also with knowledge that is fully assimilated, never doctrinaire. A born concert artist, he is made for the stage: he possesses everything required for an international career.
— Angelo Gilardino, Suonare News – Sei Corde

Born in Naples in 1997, Nino D’Amico began studying classical guitar at the age of twelve, embarking on a path that immediately proved all-encompassing. After his initial studies under the guidance of his father, he continued his training with Maestro Marco Caiazza, focusing on virtuosic technique, tonal refinement, and expressive depth, in a constant process of shaping both sound and interpretative identity.

In 2013, he was admitted to the Conservatory “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples, where he consolidated his academic training, distinguishing himself for musical maturity and technical rigor. Alongside his formal studies, he participated in masterclasses and seminars throughout Italy and Europe, working with leading figures of the international guitar world, including Leo Brouwer, Aniello Desiderio, Frédéric Zigante, Andrea De Vitis, Gabriel Bianco, Álvaro Pierri, Marcin Dylla, Paolo Pegoraro, Judicaël Perroy, and Zoran Dukić. These encounters profoundly shaped his artistic growth, nurturing a broad and conscious musical vision.

He graduated with highest honours and distinction, continued with a postgraduate specialization at the Conservatory “Domenico Cimarosa” in Avellino — again graduating with honours and special mention — and completed his advanced training with a Second-Level Master’s Degree in Musical Interpretation, deepening his study of solo repertoire and interpretative research. The recipient of several scholarships, he stands out for stylistic coherence and expressive depth.

From a very young age, the concert stage became the natural space of his artistic expression. Winner of over fifty national and international competitions, he was awarded First Prize at the International Guitar Festival Harmonia Cordis in Romania in 2019 and was selected as a EuroStrings Artist for the 2019/20 season. In 2021, he received the prestigious Chitarra d’Oro – Revelation of the Year, a recognition that confirmed his place among the most prominent emerging figures of the European guitar scene.

The global pause of 2020 became for him an opportunity for expansion: through an international network of festivals, he presented online concerts reaching audiences worldwide, strengthening an artistic presence capable of transcending physical boundaries. With the return of live performances, he intensified his touring activity, solo recitals, and collaborations with Italian Cultural Institutes abroad, combining his concert career with teaching and service as a juror in international competitions.

His musical research also finds expression in his discography. In 2021, he released Agustín Barrios Works, a project dedicated to the great Paraguayan composer, which was warmly received by critics and featured on Rai Radio 3. In 2024, he followed with Domenico Scarlatti – Sonatas, the result of in-depth musicological research and a process of transcription and critical revision published by Ut Orpheus Edizioni, reflecting his commitment to uniting interpretation and scholarship, tradition and contemporaneity.

A D’Addario Artist since 2022, he collaborates with international institutions such as Siccas Guitars, Guitar Salon International, and the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts, contributing to the global promotion of classical guitar through audiovisual productions and editorial projects.

His interpretative voice combines energy and control, lyricism and intensity, in a vision of the guitar as an unlimited space for storytelling. He performs on a 2021 Alessandro Marseglia guitar.
